Jolly Children Education Centre
Founded in May 2006, Jolly Children Education Centre (JCEC), affectionately known within the Masuliita community as “Ewa Mama Jolly” (“Mama Jolly’s place”), began from a simple act of compassion and a deep concern for vulnerable children.
What started as farmland for gardening unexpectedly transformed into a beacon of hope for children in the community. While working on her gardens, the founder, a professional child care specialist known as Mama Jolly, noticed that many children accompanied their mothers to work instead of attending school. Upon asking why they were not in school, she learned that the nearest school was over 5 kilometres away and separated by a swamp that became impassable during rainy seasons.
Moved by the situation and encouraged by the community’s request for help, Mama Jolly responded immediately. In only a few months, her farmhouse became the first classroom block, while a grass-thatched prayer hut served as additional learning space. The school officially opened during the second term of 2006 with just 22 children.
Over time, enrollment steadily increased, eventually growing to more than 300 learners.

Message from the Founder
A Message from Dr. Jolly
Dear Parents, Partners, Friends, and Visitors,
It gives me great joy to welcome you to Jolly Children Education Centre.
When I purchased land in Masuliita many years ago, my intention was simply to pursue my passion for gardening. However, God had a different plan. As I worked alongside community members, I noticed many children of school-going age spending their days in the gardens instead of classrooms. The reason was simple but heartbreaking—the nearest school was far away, and many young children could not safely reach it.
The community approached me for help, and together we embarked on a journey that would transform lives. What started in a farmhouse and a grass-thatched hut has grown into a respected educational institution serving generations of learners.
Over the years, I have witnessed children overcome enormous challenges and go on to become professionals, skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. These success stories remind us that education remains one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting change.
I am deeply grateful to our teachers, parents, partners, sponsors, and the entire community whose support has made this journey possible. Together, we continue to build a brighter future for every child entrusted to our care.
